By the Lincoln Journal Star
Wal-Mart is hiring approximately 350 associates to work at the new Supercenter slated to open at 84th and Adams in Lincoln this fall. The retailer has opened a temporary hiring center at 7501 “O” St.
The hiring center began accepting applications this week and will be accepting applications from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; Tuesday and Thursday from
8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., Wal-Mart said.
Interested applicants can stop by the hiring center or call 402-484-8470 for more information.
According to Store Manager Jolene Bartling, most of the positions will be full-time. “We are excited to add this Wal-Mart Supercenter to Lincoln and bring good jobs with career opportunity to the area,” she said.

Consumers vote with their dollars and they continue to vote for cheap off-shore labor by buying at Wal-Mart.
Remember when Wal-Mart advertised "Made in America"? That idea was dropped to lower prices. If you shop at Wal-Mart, you are choosing to put a US citizen out of work. "

You complain that companys are leaving and people are getting laid off, now you complain that there are jobs coming to town. You cant have your cake and eat it to. As far as the shopping goes, drive by the parking lots of the other 2 stores, they are always packed. So i guess that means Lincoln likes to shop there. If you dont, go to ShopKo its a free world. The University hasnt taken over where you can shop at in Lincoln...........yet "

My point is that while people are buying the cheapest foreign made goods, they are screaming about the lack of health care coverage, illegal immigrant labor, and all the other issues that continue to make it harder for American companies to compete.
If American companies can get rid of the pension plans, healthcare costs, and pay wages similar to China, you would be able to buy these items just as cheap. But is that what you really want? "

Too many people think they are too good to take a low wage job. Again, if you don't have a job, getting a small wage job is better than no wage. Maybe you can work your way up, or at least gain some experience that will allow you to get a job somewhere else. You'll need to actually show up for work on time, and do your job well. But that's the price you have to pay if you want a higher paying job.
Believe it or not, being a whiny, slacker who is late a lot will not skyrocket you to the top.
To get a high paying job you need skills, experience, maybe some education, and good work habits. "

The fact is if you want to better yourself, you can. I did. I know what it is like to work for this company. When I walked from them I never looked back. Within 2 years, i paid more in taxes than they paid me. But it did server a purpose. It gave me medical benefits when I needed them and gave me enough money to barely survive. But, it was great motivation to better myself.
