They cost American workers wages and jobs because they won't carry a product that's made in America unless the companies they buy from sell to WM at very little profit for themselves. It's all about quantity over quality. So most of the products are either shorting the American worker on the production end or they are made in China. In my opinion, Wal-Mart will, in the long run, not only squeeze out mom and pop shops but American industry will suffer as well. " I support Wal-Mart not because they have cheap prices. My reason is a little more personal. 4 years ago, my best friend was killed in a motorcycle accident. He had worked for Wal-Mart for about 7 years. I witnessed firsthand how the company was there for his family. They bent over backwards for his widow and two kids. After the funeral, people stopped by dropping off food and goods for the family. The “evil” empire as you say, saw this and brought several deep freezes for the family to keep the food in. They donated to the education fund for the family. They called every day, to see if there was anything they needed. I have worked for the State of Nebraska for 20+ years, and I can honestly say, when I die, my family will be lucky to get a sympathy card.

So for this one simple reason, I will continue to support Wal-Mart 110%. "

Too many people think they are too good to take a low wage job. Again, if you don't have a job, getting a small wage job is better than no wage. Maybe you can work your way up, or at least gain some experience that will allow you to get a job somewhere else. You'll need to actually show up for work on time, and do your job well. But that's the price you have to pay if you want a higher paying job.
Believe it or not, being a whiny, slacker who is late a lot will not skyrocket you to the top.
To get a high paying job you need skills, experience, maybe some education, and good work habits. "

" This is a good job for young people or people with no skills. Nothing more than a stepping stone. To make good money with walmart, you have to work 70 - 80 hours a week as a manager, which is still not very much per hour....

The fact is if you want to better yourself, you can. I did. I know what it is like to work for this company. When I walked from them I never looked back. Within 2 years, i paid more in taxes than they paid me. But it did server a purpose. It gave me medical benefits when I needed them and gave me enough money to barely survive. But, it was great motivation to better myself.

" I worked at Wal-Mart during college. I honestly loved my job. The people were great and seeing a familiar face every once in a while wasn't so bad either. I still continue to shop at Wal-Mart because of the savings. I have shopped at other stores to pick up a few things to make dinner or what not, and it amazes me how much of a dent it puts in my pocket.
